Healthy Bliss Balls 2 Ways (Peanut Butter & Almond)

We all know by now that I'm a sucker for anything sweet but also healthy.. which is why having healthy treats at arms reach is SO important to me!!

A few years ago, I was playing around with Bliss Ball recipes for this very reason, and came up with such delicious recipes that I ended up stocking them in local cafes.. and they were such a hit!

The recipe I'm about to share is a refined version of my famous Choc Peanut Butter Balls, only this time I've got 2 different versions for you.. especially if you're obsessed with almond butter like me!

What makes this recipe so nutritious, delicious and popular?

Medjool Dates: I use medjool dates as they're full of fibre which is great for digestion. I also love them because they're full of natural sugars and have a delicious caramel flavour - making them the perfect base for these bliss balls.

Cacao Powder: Cacao is full of antioxidants which is great for reducing inflammation within the body. It's also full of vitamins and minerals and has a deliciously rich chocolate flavour - giving these bliss balls an extra rich chocolatey taste!

Activated Almonds: 'Activated' simply means that the almonds have been soaked and dehydrated. This process activates the digestive enzymes in the nuts and allows for a much easier digestion within the gut. I love activated almonds not only because they're much easier to digest, but also because they add a delicious crunch to the balls!

Apart from using wholesome ingredients, these bliss balls don't contain any additional sweeteners, they're gluten free, refined sugar free, vegan, and can be made within minutes!

Choc Peanut Butter Bliss Balls

Makes 18-20 Balls | Gluten Free | Dairy Free | Refined Sugar Free | Nutritious & Delicious

  • 2 packed cups of medjool dates (soak in boiling water if you want extra gooey balls)

  • 1 cup of almonds (activated or roasted work best)

  • 1/2 cup of cashews

  • 3/4 cup of cacao powder

  • 1/2 cup of fresh peanuts, roughly chopped*

  • 1/4 cup of 100% pure peanut butter*

  • Pinch of pink sea salt

  • Optional: 2 tbsp of rice malt syrup or maple syrup if you love things extra sweet (I don't add this)

*If you're making the almond butter version of this recipe (as seen on my youtube video), simply replace the peanut pieces with roughly chopped activated almonds, and the peanut butter with almond butter.


  1. Remove the pits from the medjool dates and add them to a high speed food processor / blender.

  2. Add the almonds, cashews, cacao powder and salt, and blend until the mixture rolls into 1 big dough like ball - make sure the dates and nuts are well combined and that the mixture sticks together when you pinch it.

  3. Remove the bliss ball dough from the processor and place it into a large mixing bowl with the peanut pieces (or almonds).

  4. Use your hands to evenly mix the peanut (almond) pieces through the dough.

  5. Next, add in the peanut butter (or almond butter) and gently fold it through the bliss ball mixture. IMPORTANT* do not mix the peanut butter in too much, we want to keep a 'ribbon' effect so we can see chunks of peanut butter and chunks of chocolate.

  6. Roll into balls! I usually make around 18-20 depending on the size.

  7. Store in the fridge or freezer in an airtight container.

That's it! It really is so quick AND easy to make delicious and nourishing recipes that you can enjoy when you need a little 'pick me up'!
